When you visit the Dutch city of Gouda , it’s definitely worth visiting the tourist office on the main square to see the original relief from the “Waag” (weighing house) depicting the weighing of cheese. The original relief you can see here was made in 1668 by Bartholomeus Eggers – in 1998-1999 it was replaced by a copy and was brought inside to be preserved and protected from the Dutch weather.


It’s rather a hidden gem but the old relief is a “must-see” for fans of Dutch History and the history of Gouda Cheese
